She continued to refine her skills at respected institutions such as Hagley Community College and Ara - Christchurch Polytechnic, specializing in Visual Communications Design with a focus on Graphics. Her minor fields of study in photography and digital design further enriched her artistic repertoire.
Having spent 25 years in the IT industry as a web designer, Janet's life took a transformative turn after the devastating Christchurch earthquake. It was then that she discovered a newfound passion for silversmithing, immersing herself in the craft and honing her skills with unwavering determination. Joining The Silversmiths Guild of Canterbury committee, she generously shared her expertise and mentored aspiring artists on their own creative journeys.
In 2020, Janet embarked on a dedicated chapter as a full-time jeweller, eager to fully devote herself to her art. Influenced by her encounters with the Kea bird and the captivating landscapes of New Zealand, her intricate designs reflect a deep sense of connection and reverence for the natural world. Janet's oil paintings, photography, and meticulously handcrafted jewellery stand as a testament to her passion and expertise in blending artistry and nature.
